Forum Event - May 2-3, 2025

Welcome to the Forum Event page of Self Sufficient and Homesteading Community Forum. Join us on May 2-3, 2025, for an exciting event where like-minded individuals gather to share knowledge and support each other in all aspects of self-sufficiency and homesteading.  Located at the Lake Forest Camp and Conference Center in between Bloomfield and Ottumwa, Iowa.

 

Entry fee will be $10/person at the gate per day.  Under 15 is free.

Workshops and Classes

Our Forum Event will feature a variety of workshops and classes on sourdough, cast iron care, urban gardening, rendering fat, herbs/home remedies, organic grains/feed, bees, natural cattle care, gardening roundtables, dehydration and canning roundtables, candle making, and more!  Attendees will have the opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas, and network with other members of the community. Check our our Schedule page!  All our speakers are volunteers sharing their knowledge with others!

Vendors

In the cafeteria of the Conference Center, we will have vendors set up.  Booths are $15 for a 10x10 space (bring your own table) or $20 for a space with electricity.  To reserve a spot, email us at sshomesteadingcommunityforum@gmail.com or call Shawn at 641-680-0648.

Camping and Cabin Rental Available

At Forest Lake Camp we have a camping spots available and cabins available to rent for the event!  Spots for RV and tents without electricity is $15 a night.  Spots with electricity hookups are $25 a night.  Cabin rental is $25 per night per person.  Contact Shawn to reserve at 641-680-0648.

The camp is located in between Ottumwa and Bloomfield, Iowa not far off of Highway 63.  Hotels are available in both towns.  11733 Copperhead Rd; Bloomfield, Iowa 52537.

Dutch Oven Cookoff

Looking for Dutch Oven Chefs to show off their skills at our forum contest!  Prizes will be awarded to the best of the best!  For more information, call Shawn at 641-680-0648 or email sshomesteadingcommunityforum@gmail.com

Food will be sold in the cafeteria by the Cedar Community Church Women of Grace.
